Yesterday, Jake and I had a super fun day at the Tracy Aviary! This was both of our first time coming here, and we loved it! There were so many neat birds to see, and despite the cold outside, the birds were all so active and looked like they were having lots of fun! Tracy Aviary is located inside Liberty Park in Salt Lake, which adds to making it an even neater location! Its also a great price to go too! $7.00 an adult, $5.00 child over 3 years of age, under 2 years old free. They are also open all year long, rain or shine!
You could spend a few good hours here seeing all the birds, reading the signs, even feeding the birds and watching some awesome shows! It was really lovely with all the white snow out, and surprisingly since we were bundled up, we were not too cold walking around! It made it nice being a little chilly out, so there were not too many crowds, and you could spend some good time seeing the beautiful birds.
I was so glad Jake came and picked me up from Alt Summit, and we were able to spend the day together in Salt Lake looking at some neat birds! I missed my Jakey. I was also so excited to go see some birds! I really love seeing animals! If I lived by a zoo, or some place with animals, I would go visit or volunteer there everyday if they would let me!
Jake and I got to feed the pelicans tons of raw fish!!! More pictures, and a video coming soon about that!
The eagles were so neat! They have a very open area for them to roam and hang out! I guess each of these eagles were injured and can no longer fly 🙁 I am glad they have a good home now and can have a fun place to live and visitors to say hello!
Making a new friend
Can you tell I got a little scared when the peacock caught me off guard and flew away?
I have a confession…I am scared of owls…I am not positive what it is, but they scare me. Maybe its the big all black eyes, or the head that can turn around…or the deadly stare. I am scared just thinking about it!
We went to the Flight Encounters show and LOVED it! Each show is different becuase they bring out different birds, but I felt so lucky…we got to see the coolest birds ever! We got to see 3 vultures and 2 burrowing parrots. The vultures were huge, and ate meat! It was super cool to see them fly around and being so sweet. I actually think their bald heads are pretty cute!
Watching the parrots fly around and eat nuts and fruit! One of the birds on the right, can you see how she has alot of pink showing? That is her skin. I guess she has a habit of picking out all her feathers! Crazy huh? The show host said she likes to do that, like someone likes to bite their nails. He said that they are trying to help her break the habbit by giving her toy balls with feathers in it to pull the feathers out of the ball, instead of on herself! They said its been helping and hopefully by this summer all her feathers will be back!
HUGE swans!
Jake looking so handsome today, I had to sneak a few pictures 🙂
