After making them over the years I have found the quickest, easiest and most affordable way to make a balloon garland. Today I am sharing all my tips and tricks on how you too can make a show stopping balloon garland!
How To Make A Balloon Garland
Balloon garlands are so much fun to make and will take any celebration up a notch! I have tried multiple ways to make garlands and have found this to be the easiest, quickest and most cost effective method!
For this balloon “arch” shown in these pictures I made 3 balloon garlands! One garland on each side and one on the top. For these 3 balloon garlands (220 balloons), it cost me $18 and took me about 2 hours to make. I don’t know what other way I could spend $18 and make such a big decor impact on a party. Balloons are seriously so much fun and there is so much you can do with them! Today I am so excited to share with you all my tips and tricks for making your own balloon garland!
SUPPLIES
Balloons (about 32 balloons for every 6 ft) Walmart, local party stores and Amazon are great places to shop for balloons. I like using 12 inch balloons but you can use any balloon size or mix and match. This method will still work.
Command Hooks (if you are hanging your garland)
Balloon Knotter (not a must but saves your fingers!)
DIRECTIONS:
Start by blowing up all the balloons.
Once all the balloons are blown up, take two balloons by the end and tie them together with the hair tie. Pair up all the balloons until they are all matched. If you are using different colored balloons, mix and match them however you want!
Next measure the area with your yarn where you want to put the balloon garland. Add a full arms length to your yarn and cut it. Make a loop at one end of the yarn.
Now for the fun part! Time to add your balloons to the yarn and make a garland. Start with the end where you tied the loop. Leave about 8 inches from the loop. Wrap the yarn around a pair of balloons where you tied them together. Make a knot. Once done with this, grab another pair of balloons and wrap the yarn around where the balloons where you tied them together. A knot is not needed after the first one. Just a loop around the balloons is enough. Keep doing this over and over till your garland is the length you need. The tighter you layer the balloons together, it will be more full.
When the garland is the length you need, tie a loop on the other end. Time to hang up your Command Hooks. Then hang your garland and you are done! Wahoo, congrats! I would love to see any balloon creations you make!
