Heading to Universal Orlando to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?! Today we are sharing everything you need to know about all 6 forms of butterbeer, where to buy it and our review!

Anyone else huge Harry Potter fan?! I am heading to Universal Orlando in April so butterbeer is on my mind! Did you know there are 6 different forms? One form you can even take home with you!  I have been working on this post for quite some time and am so excited to finally be sharing it with you all!

To help remember when you are at the parks, there are 3 Butterbeer desserts and 3 Butterbeer drinks.

The Drinks

  1. Cold Butterbeer- $6.99, Souvenir Mug $12.99
  2. Frozen Butterbeer- $6.99, Souvenir Mug $12.99
  3. Hot Butterbeer- $6.99 (Only available in winter months)

The Treats

  1. Butterbeer Fudge- $4.21
  2. Butterbeer Ice Cream (soft serve) -$5.49 cup, $6.49 cone, $9.99 Souvenir Glass
  3. Butterbeer Potted Cream- $5.79

Now let’s dive into what they look like, how they taste, and where you can find these tasty treats at Universal Orlando Resort you will not want to miss!

1. Butterbeer- Cold! ($6.99, Souvenir Mug $12.99)

This is the traditional way this drink is served at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  Out of all the drinks, this is the sweetest way to have it.  Butterscotch goodness! It is so yummy and tasty! The froth on top is my favorite part!  I could litterally drink just the froth its so good! But the balance of the froth with the butterbeer is perfection!

When visiting the parks, Jake loves to get 5+ butterbeers.   He never seems to get enough and always have 1 in each hand!

Where To Purchase:

  • Hogsmeade: Butterbeer Street Carts, Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head Pub
  • Diagon Alley: The Hopping Pot, Leaky Cauldron

Frozen Butterbeer ($6.99, Souvenir Mug $12.99)

If you like Icee’s you will love the texture and consistency.  This is more creamy than an icee, but sooo yummy!  If I had a choice between a cold or frozen Butterbeer I would choose frozen! I LOVE them! (Jake would choose regular). The iceyness with the cream on top is such an amazing combo!  It goes so well with a meal, or as a treat to drink while waiting in a ride line.

Where To Purchase:

  • Hogsmeade: Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head Pub, Butterbeer Street Carts
  • Diagon Alley: Leaky Cauldron, The Hopping Pot

3. Hot Butterbeer ($6.99)

Personally, this is my favorite drink form of butterbeer and wished it was served year around!  Even on a hot day I would go for it,  because it’s that good! My mouth is just watering thinking about it!  I love that this drink is served in a coffee cup with a coffee sleeve.  It is so cute!

This way is how J.K. Rowling originally dreamed of the drink being served.   When you order butterbeer hot, make sure to let it cool down a bit before you drink it! It really is warm!  The froth on top is cold and the drink hot = amazing!

Where To Purchase:

  • Hogsmeade: Three Broom Sticks
  • Diagon Alley: Leaky Cauldron

Don’t forget to enjoy the butterbeer froth stash! It adds to the fun of the drinks 🙂

This picture cracks me up because it is Jake to a t on Harry Potter adventure days. He always has a butterbeer in each hand all day long!

(In this picture left drink is cold and right is frozen butterbeer)

Now onto the butterbeer treats!…

4. Butterbeer Potted Cream ($5.79)

The Potted Cream is fun to grab for dessert at the restaurants.  It is served chilled in a cute mason jar.  The potted cream is a thick mouse consistency.  It’s a nice treat to sit down and eat.

I enjoyed this dessert, but if you are on a budget, it’s one I would skip.  I have friends though,  that this is their favorite form!  For me it was good, but I would rather an ice cream or the fudge.

Where to Purchase:

  • Hogsmeade: Three Broomsticks
  • Diagon Alley: Leaky Cauldron

5. Butterbeer Fudge ($4.21)

Butterbeer Fudge is the only way you can take Butterbeer home with you!  It’s great to grab a few extras to take home to friends or family so they can enjoy some magic from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter too!

The fudge is a great consistently, nice chew to it and super tasty!  This was my favorite form of butterbeer in the treat category!  The flavor is not overwhelming and subtle goodness.

Where to Purchase:

  • Hogsmeade: Honeydukes
  • Diagon Alley: Sugarplum’s Sweetshop

6. Butterbeer Soft Serve Ice-Cream ($5.49 cup, $6.49 cone, $9.99 Souvenir Glass)

(Picture from blog.universalorlando.com)

The Ice Cream was Jake’s favorite treat form!  It is a super delicate soft serve vanilla ice cream base laced with butterbeer flavor.  It is pretty fantastic!  It was freezing out when we got it and still enjoyed it!

At Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlor you can get the ice cream in a cup, cone or souvenir cup.  I think the ice cream looks so cute in a cone!  At The Hopping Pot you only have the cup option, at least when we went!

If you don’t mind eating ice cream early in the morning, if you head to the Ice-Cream Parlor when the park opens there is usually not a long line!

Where to Purchase:

  • Hogsmeade: Three Broomsticks
  • Diagon Alley: Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlor and The Hopping Pot

When I was there, I got both souvenir cups and the one for the ice cream. I only got the frozen because it was so hot. I had no clue they had clotted cream and fudge though.

OMG how fun! I am actually not a fan, but my kids love Harry Potter. We have the Universal Studios Harry Potter here, but think Florida is better and we did the London tour once. This sounds like so much fun and I love all the butterbeer products!

  • My husband would love the butter beer in beer form. I really wanted to visit Harry Potter world when the kids were young and never got the chance. There was a period of about 2 years where my son went almost everywhere as Harry Potter and he and my husband read all of the books together out loud (before bed). It took years, but my son totally loved it.

Well, I’m not anywhere near a World of Harry Potter but I’m dying to try all of the Butterbeers now! Dung Bombs, on the other hand, do not sound appealing at all….but it’s a great wall to have your picture taken against! You 2 are so adorable! Your babies are going to have an amazing childhood!
