10 Ways To Celebrate St. Patricks Day With Toddlers
Wow, St. Patricks Day is just around the corner! As a mama of twin girls, I am always looking for fun and easy ideas to celebrate holidays! Today I am sharing 10 ways to celebrate St. Patricks Day with toddlers.
Eat Green Food
Plan a meal or a full day of green food to celebrate! Green pancakes, green milk, green eggs, green cookies… lots of fun options for dying food and making it green! Don’t have time to dye food, try green grapes, asparagus, broccoli, avocado, lettuce, kiwi, brussels sprouts, artichoke, celery, peas, edamame, etc.
Wear Green
Don’t forget to not get pinched! Wear some green! If you don’t have any green outfits, check Walmart! Thats where I got the girls cute jumpsuits for only $5!
Create A Rainbow
Bust out the paints, crayons, play dough, or even fruit! Have fun making a rainbow together to hang on the fridge!
Treasure Hunt For Gold
Ok how fun would this be?!?!!? Buy a few gold coins and hid them in the house. Make a map with big X on it where the gold coins are hid! Go on a treasure hunt together around the house! Have fun!
Eat Corned Beef & Cabbage For Dinner
Anyone else love corned beef!?!? Every March, corned beef hits the shelves in anticipation of St. Patricks Day! This is such an easy, delicious dinner. Here is the recipe I use, you just dump everything in a crock pot and enjoy! Eating festive meals is a fun way for kids to try new exciting foods and learn a little more about a holiday!
Make Lucky Charms Yogurt Bark
Anyone else love a yummy bark?!?! Making yogurt bark is a great way to make a somewhat heathy snack for your kiddos! Plus its one they can help with too! Buy a box of Lucky Charms cereal and take out all the marshmallows. For the yogurt bark mix use 2 cups plain yogurt, 1/4 cup honey, 1sp vanilla, and mix all together. On a lined sheet pan, spread out yogurt and top with marshmallows. You can also add food coloring to make it even more festive!
Shamrock Sugar Cookies
Have fun baking in the kitchen together! Make sugar cookies and cut them in the shape of shamrocks! Short on time?! Buy pre-made sugar cookie dough and have fun cutting out shapes together/and frosting cookies!
Go For A Walk And Find Green Things
Spend some time outdoors and look for green things! This is a great way to learn about the color green and apply it! Don’t be scared to get dirty and get down on the ground looking for things. Ask your kids simple questions like “is this green?!” You can even point to things that aren’t green to learn to help them grasp the concept of what is green.
Listen To Irish Music
Help your kids learn what the holiday is all about! Turn on some fun Irish music and have a dance party! Spin around, jump up and down and have some fun!
St. Patricks Day Sensory Bin
Create a sensory bin that is age appropriate for you little one! We are big fans of sensory bins over here! Try some green kinetic sand, dye some noodles or rice green, hide some gold coins for some fun! Lots of great ideas! Here is a list of St. Patrick’s Day sensory bin ideas.
